Add a div as shown below in you HTML. This div will contain the Youmax widget and display your channel feed.

4. How to get your YouTube API Key and Client ID

1. Login to http://code.google.com/apis/console
2. Click on the "APIs" link in the left navigation

3. Search for the "Youtube Data API v3"

4. If the status is OFF turn it ON. Similarly also search for the "Google+ API" and change its status to "ON". Both the APIs will shows under Enabled APIs section.

5. Click on the "Credentials" section in the left navigation
6. Under the "Public API access" section, you can see your "API Key"

8. Once you click the "Create Client ID" button on the popup, you should have a section saying "Client ID for web application" where your client ID will be displayed.

That's it guys, comment below and let me know what features you would like in the next version.

  1. Installed it today and got it working first time thanks very much sir :)

(just a couple of queries though if you don't mind)
    1:
I have mine loading the uploads tab as default and it works, however is there a way to have it show the videos sorted by popularity instead of latest upload, or is there a way to configure the search tab to return the videos by popularity?
    2:
My subscribers(I only have 3 anyway) arent showing, next to the view count it shows subscribers as 0

Other than that it seems to be working great thanks again

    1. 1. The Uploads are alread ysorted by date and cannot be sorted in any other order as of now. The search Tab can be sorted by using the "Search Order" parameter.

      2. Please share the link to your page for checking the subscribers etc.

    2. ok thanks Jake understood

http://shepherdscarpentry.com/videos.html is the link to check subscribers

      Delete
    3. Ok I don't see any subscribers on your YouTube channel, so Subscriber Count on Youmax is 0. This is correct right..

    4. nope when i look at my channel on youtube for example at
      https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCl6bWJDW80hDRqi7Gl2AdLw/videos?flow=grid&sort=p&view=0
it shows me at the moment 81 views and 3 subscribers.

    5. I'm sorry we see 0 subscribes. Try logging out of your account and then check.

Maybe it's not visible to public.

was thx to a page I found at http://www.reelseo.com/hide-youtube-subscriber-count/

seems official then, I cant find a problem with your script.... thanks again! :)
oh and please try and find or create a way to sort the uploads tab into most popular rather than date added for next update :)

    8. Cool Cheers!

And yes, we have noted this requirement for sorting Uploads. We will have some option to do that in 6.0

  2. Hi,

i have a little issue with the upload date. it shows on every video 1 month on the playlist tab. on the upload tab it is correct.

    1. The minimum date difference is 1 month as of now. So any video uploaded within the last month will show "1 month ago"

We are aware of this and we have a plan to fix this :)

    2. Hi,

ok, but it shows it on the playlist from 2014. The first video is from march 2014.

    3. is it possible that the date dos not come from the videos? i have done some update / changes in january at the playlists

      Delete
    4. Ahh, ok I get your point. You are want to display the date the playlist was created.

Let me check on that. If the YouTube presents a Created date we will add that and release a fix.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts :)

  4. Hi

I want to show videos from my Youtube Private Channel. Is it possible with this solution?

    Thank you

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hello Mr. Wayne

Private channels are restricted to few people. Your website would be public and visible to everyone on the web. That is the problem with embedding private channels.

That being said, now we have a Google + login for comments. We can try to extend that to display the channel only to the people having access to your channel. Please note that this will take time to implement, test etc.

On a side note my suggestion here would be to use Youmax on a public channel or if possible, make your channel public.

      Cheers
      Jake

    2. Thank you for the quick response Jake.

Unfortunately I need to set the channel to Private due to the subscription users pay for the training videos.

For now I've set the videos to Unlisted, and removed the share functionality in the controls. But if users get the video id, they can still go and watch it on YouTube.

Would be much appreciated if you can look into a solution for this..

      Thanks
      Wayne

One other problem I am having is that the video time reads one month ago. How do I fix this?

      Delete
    5. My uploaded time was March 12, 2015 7:21 AM

      Delete
    6. Yes, that is a known feature. The minimum time difference the script calculates is 1 month. So any video uploaded within the last month will show 1 month ago.

We are planning to release a small patch to update this feature to allow timestamps like 1 week ago etc.

      Delete
    7. Hi Jake.

Thank you for the reply. This does not really make sense to me. Is there a way to display the date and time within your code? YouTube's API must surely give you the actual time stamp of the video uploaded / published date.

      Thank you.

      Delete
    8. Yes the API give the uploaded dates, but the format is ISO 8601. (Example 013-05-13T13:12:42.000Z)

The script converts this time into timestamps like "1 month ago, 4 months ago etc.".

If you want you can modify the script source to present any other format you want. As of now, there is no plugin option to change the timestamp format directly. Apologies for that.

However, like I said we are improving our timestamp function so that it gives you timestamps like "1 week ago" etc.

  5. Hi Jake,

    Wonderful updates... Thanks

    I had two requirements : -
First: one is search bar/tool to search videos in the channel ( fixed somewhere either with tabs or below the subscriber count, ++ like Q expand on hover-- any style as you wish)

Secondly : For the video thumbnail if the title is more length... the hover should display as html title( perhaps better).

Optional : The youtube bg cover pic tryout something different with it...

Let me know your opinion on these.

    Thanks,
    Prakash

    2. Hello Prakash,

      1. Regarding the Channel Search box, we already have that requirement in our queue. Will be added in 6.0

      2. Do you want the full name of the Video as a tooltip on hover ? (when the length is high)

      3. What tryouts would you like to have with the Background cover ?

    2. Thanks reply. It's still over a month away. I'm really looking forward to it.

There's no particular function I want you to add to it. It would be pretty interesting if the next video played automatically, but it's not required. If it did, however, it would probably sell more.
      example: http://mydubo.com/the-nice-girl-short-film/

    3. Yea, we already have that requirement in our queue. We will see how we can implement that feature, but thank you for the suggestion.

Yes, its a month away, since we are currently working on the launch of a premium script for Picasa/Google+ albums embed. After that we have planned the Youmax upgrade and then the Famax upgrade.

If you are subscribed on this blog, we will send you the notifications :)

  8. Hi,one question. Is if possible to scrape each title of the movies in text? Is it technically difficult?Currently, this script's seo is bad.

    example
    http://i.imgur.com/4rmrxw8.jpg

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The titles are already scraped if you do a right-click > inspect element on Youmax.

Actually the script is not responsible for SEO at all, it's neutral. Its up to you to add headers and titles to your page, other images with proper names and "alt" descriptions, keywords, tags etc.

  9. Hi,Jake. Will you implement the advertising related functions on next ver6.0?
    Is it difficult to implement?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 6.0 is already out with some great features. You can check it out on CodeCanyon - http://codecanyon.net/item/youmax-youtube-channel-on-your-website/9989505

Yes, we already have some requests for adding Ads into Youmax. That is why in 6.0 we have added a "newpage" option with separate links for each video. You can display Ads on these pages right away.

Also we are planning to display Ads with the thumbnails in Youmax. This will take a couple of weeks. If you are subscribed here on this blog, we will send you the updates :)

      Delete
    2. Thanks reply. It was a bit disappointing, because I expected that advertising-related features would be implemented in ver 6.0. (I was waiting for several weeks).
I hope they will be implemented in the next ver 7.0.

      Delete
    3. Apologies for that. See actually adding Ads is not a big thing. Displaying Ads, without violating the YouTube Terms is what matters. That is why we had to implement the newpage option first.

Anyway, just to gather requirements, would you mind telling us where exactly do you intend to display Ads with Youmax?

  11. Hello,
First of all, thank you for all your hard work. I've followed all the steps and after a lot of effort it works, but I have a few problems:
    - I had to use the API and ID from the demo. Every time I inserted mine, all videos would disappear. I have triple-checked all the steps described above, but nothing makes any difference.
    - I see my youtube profile pic, but not the channel art, and the subscribe button is in the way.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong? If it helps, the website with the Youmax is www.icavalieridellozodiaco.net

  14. about this:

    1. Include plugins

Upload the package to your server (or any hosting platform even Google Drive) at the right path. Include the plugins as shown below

    ?

-------------> so "package" means what? the folder "youmax_evanto_v6_2" - and dont rename it?

--------------> " at the right path" means what? at root of server?

--------------> "Include the plugins as shown below" means what? include in the head of the page?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 1. Yes package means "youmax_evanto_v6_2". You can rename it if you want. You can also upload only the specific scripts like - jquery.youmax.min.js, the jQuery file and any of the CSS skin files - youmax_grey.min.css

      2. You can upload them anywhere on your server. Just make sure your links to those script are correct.

      3. It is better to include in the head section of your page. But if you do it in the body, it should work too.

You can refer to youmax.html file provided in the package for a sample implementation.

      Cheers :)
